Hearing Them Call You Daddy

I look at them with an uncontrollable smile

Most men won’t say when they are giddy
Most men might not say they are silly
Most men may not think they glow
Most men will say it ain’t so
That they themselves were not ready
When it comes to hearing them call you Daddy

How their heart heats up
And their smiles light up
When the joy in them bubbles over
And they feel as lucky as a clover
And how nothing can compare,
Not even that special lady
When it comes to hearing them call you Daddy

Yes it is the pursuit that they are in
To make you laugh and grin
To have your strong hands and arms around them
They know that in your eyes that they could do no sin
They know that no matter the wrong that they would be forgiven
They know they are the only ones
That in a game between you and them…They will Win
That in a foot race, you leave the line before they yell ready
The miraculous feeling you have in side
When it comes to hearing them call you Daddy

The rain of tears you feel
When they are sick or down
They are your Achilles heel
Totally turned into mush
All your buttons they know and push
Where a hug and kiss
Can change your day
When your lost
Looking them in their eyes helps
You find your way
Just hearing them say I love you
It’s like your flooded from a broken levy
When it comes to hearing them call you Daddy

The purest sensation
The moist condensation
On your brow
Your back and forth pacing
When your in the room waiting
While she endures the pain in laboring
When the crown is approaching
And the blood is dripping
When the delivery is over
And begin the congratulating
And the celebrating
When the nurse turns to you
When it comes to first hearing them say you’re a
DADDY!
